Anaklia: dredging by December and a rail-approach tender by end-October

14 September 2026 — DredgeWire / Ports Europe quoted Eric Beyts, project director of Anaklia Deep Sea Port (Jan De Nul): dredging is planned to finish by December 2026. Vessels Al-Idrisi and Tristão da Cunha are pumping about 70,000 m³ of sand per day, working in waves up to ~3 m. The port is designed for the largest ships that enter the Black Sea via the Bosphorus; any comparison with Constanța is a contractor statement, not an independent ranking.

11 September 2026 — Interpressnews: Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili said talks with international financial partners are complete and Georgian Railway has finished the rail-approach design. A construction tender for the rail approach is expected by end of October; first vessel targeted for 2029. Breakwater and dredging continue in parallel.

For OOG, after the Caspian the pinch is often the Black Sea exit, not the ferry. Without rail to the berth, oversized and project cargo still hit road/transshipment even if the depth is already there.
