Xi’an and KTZ at Port Kuryk: expanding Caspian cargo flows

On 1 October 2026, representatives of Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction & Operation Co., Ltd. — the operator of China–Europe and China–Central Asia freight trains — held a meeting at Port Kuryk.

The parties discussed Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) development, higher container transit volumes and long-term cooperation. Focus areas included freight efficiency, logistics process optimization and expanding international cargo flows through the Caspian region. Kazakhstan Railways representatives also attended.

For rail forwarding via Kuryk, Altynkol and Dostyk–Alashankou, this points to denser multimodal China–Caspian–Europe and Central Asia schemes.
