On 24 September 2026 in Tashkent the EU, Uzbekistan’s Transport Ministry and IFC held a private-sector seminar on priority Trans-Caspian Corridor reforms (Global Gateway). Officials cited 1.2 Mt of Uzbek cargo via the Caspian in 2025 and the country’s share of EU cargo turnover rising from 12% (2021) to 28%. Barriers named: Caspian shallowness, port queues, high costs, differing border procedures; e-Permit and e-TIR are being rolled out. For OOG, digital truck permits help — special permits, axle limits and ferry slots still decide project cargo.
