The Government of Kazakhstan has approved the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Energy and Turan Wind Energy LLP to build a 1,000 MW wind farm with a 300 MW energy storage system in Kostanay region. The resolution was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

Investment in the project will be about 380 billion tenge. Construction will start in spring 2027, with completion and commissioning planned by the end of 2029. The project is expected to create 750 jobs. The plant will be the largest renewable energy facility in the region and part of the national programme to raise the share of renewables in the energy mix to 15% by 2030 and to 50% by 2050, including alternative sources.

Wind farms of this size are built from oversized and heavy components: blades, tower sections, nacelles, transformers and storage equipment. Delivering them to site requires lowbed trailers, route surveys and oversize transport permits, so logistics for such projects is planned early, alongside the construction schedule.
