Kazakhstan–China rail: 18.7 million tonnes in H1 2026 (+9%)

Kazakhstan–China rail freight reached 18.7 million tonnes in H1 2026, up 9% year-on-year (RailFreight.com, 20 July 2026, citing Kazakhstan’s transport ministry). Imports to Kazakhstan were 7 Mt (+9%); traffic toward China 11.7 Mt (+10%), including 8.5 Mt of Kazakh exports (+20%). Dostyk/Alashankou handled 10.6 Mt (+15%); Khorgos/Altynkol 8.1 Mt (+2%). The figures underline sustained demand for wagons, containers and flatcars on the China–Kazakhstan rail border crossings.
