On 10 September 2026 Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry reported progress on an approximately 1 GW wind plant near Ekibastuz (Pavlodar Region). China’s SPIC, jointly with Pavlodar Green Energy, plans about $1.2 billion in FDI, with commissioning targeted for 2029.
The project includes energy storage rated at 300 MW / 600 MWh (Kazakhstan Today; Vestnik Kavkaza cites a 300–600 MWh range). For oversized/project cargo, the practical story is blades, nacelles and tower sections moving from China via border crossings such as Khorgos, then on lowbeds inside Kazakhstan — a multi-year planning horizon, not a one-day headline.
