On 19 September 2026 an ethylene fractionation column was set in its design position at the polyethylene plant site in Atyrau Region: 101.8 m high, 7.5 m in diameter, full assembly over 1,800 t. It was built in Kazakhstan at AtyrauNefteMash and is a key piece of the pyrolysis unit (ethylene separation).

The lift took about five hours: a crawler crane of up to 4,000 t plus a 1,700 t assist crane. The column was first raised about 3 m while still horizontal, then tilted to vertical and landed on the foundation.

The same 4,000 t crane is planned for a quench column of about 700 t, more than 50 m high and about 10 m in diameter, also built by AtyrauNefteMash.

Project progress is 38.5% against a 30% plan. About 5,000 people and more than 500 units of special equipment are on site. Plant capacity is 1.25 Mt of polyethylene a year.

For OOG, after the sea shipment and the port-to-site road leg (previously Yersai→Atyrau, ~878 km), the critical contour is installation: crane, foundation, weather window and coordination — not the trailer alone.
