Mangystau Region Akim Nurdaulet Kilybay inspected construction of the container terminal at the ERSAI industrial sea port in the village of Kuryk. The facility is 85% complete, with commissioning planned for December 2026. Baq.kz and Bes.media reported this on 15 October 2026, citing the regional akimat.
The terminal's design capacity is 120,000 TEU a year on 50,000 m². It is being built jointly by Kazakh companies Lancaster Group and Atasu Group. The terminal will handle containers and other general cargo moving by sea, rail and road. Equipment includes shunting locomotives, two 45 t rail-mounted gantry cranes, a harbour tug, reach stackers and forklifts.
ERSAI port has seven berths with a total length of 1,300 m, its own water area and an approach channel for year-round navigation. Dredging is under way in parallel to accept deeper-draught vessels and widen the range of cargo handled. At full capacity the terminal will create 60 jobs.
For Gateway Logistics project cargo on the Caspian, this adds another transshipment point in Kuryk: lowbed and tandem delivery from Khorgos, linked with rail and the sea leg to Alat and Baku on one schedule.
