NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is moving wagon technical inspection into automatic mode. KTZ CEO Yelzhas Otynshiyev reported this at a government meeting on 6 October 2026, inbusiness.kz citing the cabinet press service.
KinetiX uses cameras and machine vision to inspect trains in motion without stopping. In eight months more than 1 million wagons were checked; over 17,000 defects were found, including 448 critical ones. Automation cuts inspection time by 30% and manual labour by 70%, so wagons can be sent for maintenance earlier.
KTZ is also advancing Smart Diagnostics for track and a Private 4G (LTE-R) network across more than 16,000 km of mainline — the digital base for end-to-end operations.
For forwarding containers, gondolas and flatcars on the Khorgos/Altynkol and Dostyk–Alashankou axes, fleet reliability and predictable inspection reduce the risk of wagons being set aside en route.
