Heavy and oversized vehicle controls stepped up on key corridors after the Address

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport has stepped up controls on heavy and oversized vehicles on major corridors, Trend.az reported on 30 October 2026. The corridors include Western Europe–Western China, Astana–Petropavlovsk, Omsk–Pavlodar–Semey–Maikapshagai and Kyzylorda–Zhezkazgan. The focus is preventing overweight.

The ministry is working with Kurultai on legislative measures to increase liability for exceeding weight limits. The presidential Address of 28 October set goals to become an organiser of international freight flows, support domestic road carriers (more than half of road transit is handled by foreign carriers), reconstruct all road border checkpoints in 2027, and have the Government and the Ministry of Transport oversee all roads.

Deputy Minister Maksat Kaliakparov cited operating figures: transit through Kazakhstan rose 13.1% in the first 9 months of 2026; rail freight reached 241.7 mln t (+3%), road freight 270.4 mln t (+5.6%).

For oversized moves on lowbeds this is a practical cue: verify the special permit, the agreed route and the actual mass and dimensions before departure. Gateway Logistics operates 45 t / 5-axle and 90 t / 10-axle lowbeds and 145 m³ road-trains on the China — Kazakhstan — Caspian — Azerbaijan — Georgia — Türkiye corridors with route surveys and permit handling.
