Kurultai MP Asylkhan Kozhakhmetov, speaking in plenary, relayed business complaints about freight from China via Dostyk station in Zhetisu region. Kazinform reported this on 4 November 2026.
He said that even with contracts at terminals such as KedenTransService or Atasu, China-gauge containers can be redirected without the cargo owner’s consent to DostykTransTerminal. Handling there costs USD 205–235 per container versus no more than USD 90 at alternative terminals.
Per SevenR Logistics data for October 2026, of about 3,720 containers at Dostyk: 1,534 DostykTransTerminal, 1,069 Eurotransit, 978 KedenTransService, 139 Atasu. Station management cites “even distribution”; the MP asks for checks on legality, allocation rules and tariffs with the competition agency. Dostyk has four terminals: KedenTransService, Eurotransit, DostykTransTerminal and Atasu.
For rail forwarding via the eastern gateways this is an operational cost-and-time risk. Gateway Logistics supplies wagons, containers and container flatcars: Khorgos to Almaty, Astana and Kazakhstan regions; Khorgos/Altynkol and Dostyk–Alashankou into Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran and Turkmenistan.
