In his annual Address to the people of Kazakhstan on 28 October 2026, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the Bakhty–Ayagoz railway line will be launched next year, Rail-news.kz reported citing Akorda. The new route will increase cargo capacity with China by 20 million tonnes.

According to the head of state, about 85% of freight from China to the European continent already moves across Kazakhstan. The President set the goal of becoming a full-fledged organiser of international cargo flows: developing domestic logistics operators, creating cargo consolidation and distribution centres, and building new production and trading sites around transport hubs. He also named full digitalisation of the transport sector, including international routes.

Gateway Logistics forwards cargo in wagons and containers and provides container flatcars: Khorgos to Almaty, Astana and all regions of Kazakhstan, and Khorgos/Altynkol and Dostyk–Alashankou to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran and Turkmenistan.
