At the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant of Kazchrome, part of ERG, work has moved to one of the key stages of building a waste-gas power plant: installing two high-pressure steam boilers, Kursiv reported on 5 October 2026. The plant will run on ferroalloy gas produced during ferrochrome smelting.

The main process equipment is already on site: boiler units, a generator, a condenser, pumping equipment and other oversized units. The main building and turbine hall are going up in parallel, along with a gas holder, a cooling tower and an 80-metre stack. Next come the turbine, electrical systems and automation; the GPP-2 main step-down substation is being rebuilt separately.

Design capacity is 80 MW (87 MW maximum), with planned output of up to 532 million kWh a year and more than 80,000 cubic metres of gas used per hour. Bureau Veritas inspects the manufacture of the main equipment, and commissioning is planned for 2027. For project logistics, this is a typical industrial build: heavy units delivered in phases to match the installation schedule.
