On 28–29 June 2026 Iran and Kazakhstan signed an investment agreement for a Kazakh logistics center in the hinterland of Shahid Rajaee Port (Bandar Abbas). Tehran Times / Mehr cite Ports and Maritime Organization head Mohammad Shakibi-Nasab on a ~1.5 million-ton annual transit target through Iran and expectations of a sharp rise in bilateral trade (goods trade around $400m as a baseline). Hormozgan ports director Hossein Abbasnejad described ~15 ha, about $25m Kazakh FDI, ~two years of construction and a 27-year contract (~25 years operation). For Kazakhstan–Iran / INSTC planning this is a southern-leg infrastructure signal alongside the Caspian Middle Corridor — not an instant OOG slot; permits and terminal readiness still decide the calendar.
