Middle Corridor: road leg and container trailers as route flexibility

On 8 September 2026, Ruslan Sharipov (Middle Corridor Project Manager, TransExpeditions) told AzerNews that road on the Middle Corridor should complement rail — more flexibility and maneuverability, and with the right setup, competitive time and cost.

His point: road on TITR is not only curtainsiders. Containers can move on specialized container trailers (container carriers) so the chain stays seamless: load in China and run to destination without restuffing. Combining containers with road, he said, yields a highly mobile, economically viable solution.

For OOG / project cargo the parallel is clear: long/heavy units often do not fit a pure rail contour and need lowbeds, permits and route surveys. The road leg delivers door-to-door and can bypass local rail chokepoints — only if special-permit calendars and the ferry leg are locked early. Day’s takeaway: Middle Corridor flexibility is not only new berths; it is rail + road + ferry without unnecessary breaks in the chain.
