FAQ

OOG: frequent questions

What counts as OOG in Kazakhstan, which permits you need, lowboy vs tandem, and what to send for a quote.

What counts as OOG in Kazakhstan?

OOG is a load or combination that will not fit the length, width, height or axle limits for the road section. It is not “a big container”: a standard 40-foot box on an ordinary trailer usually stays in gauge. Working market cues: width over 2.55 m, height over 4 m from the road, excess combination length or axle load. The exact threshold is the rule on that section and the vehicle type — the scheme starts from the fact, not a per-kilometre rate.

Which permits and route approval are required?

OOG needs national special permits in each transit country and, as a rule, a route approval: overpasses, bridges, ferry, access into site. For Kazakhstan that is a heavy and oversized haul permit; further along the corridor each of China, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Iran and Turkey has its own regime. There is no single “Middle Corridor permit”. Issue time often outlasts the highway kilometres.

Lowboy (трал) or tandem?

A lowboy / трал (often extendable) takes length and a low load height: vessels, steel, equipment under a clearance cap. A tandem adds axles when concentrated weight will not pass a bridge, a ferry ramp or the last mile. Fleet: 45 t / 5-axle трал, 90 t / 10-axle трал, 145 m³ tandem. We match the combination to the cargo, not “whichever truck is free”.

What do you need for a quote?

There is no quote without parameters. Send length, width, height, mass, origin and destination, known axle limits and timing. From that we match the combination, permits and a ferry if the route uses one. The request form collects the same fields. How does an OOG haul run?

A request with dimensions, mass and points. Then a scheme: combination, lashing, route. Special permits and approvals in the transit countries. Loading to the scheme. The haul with in-transit control, a ferry and an escort if they are required. Delivery on site. This is road OOG on Eurasian corridors, not LCL boxes.

When is an escort required?

When the gauge or the national rule requires an escort — not on every run “for gravitas”. The call comes after the route scheme: width, length, section, ferry. If an escort is not required, we do not add one.

Turnkey

Turnkey OOG — permits to site

Not “a truck and a driver”. Special permits, route, lashing, escort where required, and in-transit control through delivery.

  • 01

    Special permits

National permits in each transit country. There is no single corridor-wide permit.

  • 02

    Route

Survey and approval: overpasses, bridges, ferry, turning and the last mile into site.

  • 03

    Lashing and loading

A lashing and loading scheme from the real dimensions and mass, not a generic strap.

  • 04

    Escort

Escort where the gauge or the national rule requires it — not by default on every run.

  • 05

    In-transit control

Combination status, ferry queue, deviations. The shipper does not learn about a stall after the fact.
